Roofing Lead Follow-Up: A Simple 7-Day Schedule
One call and a voicemail is not follow-up. Homeowners are busy, and many do not answer unknown numbers. A short, steady schedule books far more inspections.
The 7-day schedule for a new request
| When | What |
|---|---|
| Minute 1 | Text: "Got your request, can I call now?" |
| Minute 5 | Call. No answer: leave a short voicemail |
| Hour 3 | Text with two time options |
| Day 2, morning | Call |
| Day 2, evening | Text |
| Day 4 | Call at a different time of day |
| Day 7 | Last text: "Should I close your request?" |
Scripts you can copy
First text
"Hi Sam, this is Dan from [Company]. I saw you asked about a roof inspection. Is now a good time for a quick call?"
Time options
"I can have someone look at the roof Thursday at 10 or Friday at 2. Which is better?"
Last text
"Hi Sam, I have not been able to reach you. Should I close your request, or would you still like the inspection?"
The last one gets a surprising number of replies. People do not like to be closed out.
Follow-up after the quote
The same idea applies after you give a price.
- Day 1: Thank-you text with the quote and photos.
- Day 3: Call. "Any questions on the options?"
- Day 7: Text with one helpful point, like financing or scheduling.
- Day 14: Call. Ask plainly if they chose someone else.
- Day 30 and 90: A short check-in. Many delayed jobs come back.
Rules that keep it human
- Vary the time of day.
- Keep texts short and use their name.
- Stop when they say stop.
- Never argue about price by text.
Who should do it
One named person. If follow-up belongs to "whoever has time", it belongs to nobody.
Questions roofers ask
How many tries is too many?
Six to eight contacts over a week is normal for a new request. After that, move them to a monthly check-in.
Can I automate it?
Automate the texts and reminders. Keep the calls human.
What if I never want to chase again?
That is the reason booked inspections exist. NorthLine does the contact and the checking, and you get the inspection on your calendar. See if your area is open.
